Why you shouldn't change router settings or reset the router

Your router is set up specially for your SkyPro Internet connection. Here's why a reset can take you offline and what to do instead.

Updated 29 October 2026

When we install your service, our technician sets up the router with the exact settings your SkyPro Internet connection needs, a secure admin password, and your Wi-Fi name and password.

Why a reset causes problems

  • A factory reset (holding the small reset button) erases every setting.
  • Without those settings, the router can't connect to our network, so your internet stops.
  • Your Wi-Fi name and password go back to the defaults on the label, and all your devices are disconnected.
  • Getting back online may need our support team to set it up again, or a technician visit.

Changing settings in the router's admin page can cause the same problems.

What to do instead

You want to…Do this
Change your Wi-Fi passwordRequest a new password
Change your Wi-Fi nameRequest a new name
Fix "no internet"Follow the no-internet checks
Fix slow internetFollow the slow-internet checks
Restart the routerUnplug it from the socket, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in. A restart is safe. A reset is not.

Already reset it by accident?

  1. Don't press anything else.
  2. Message us on WhatsApp at +234 808 110 4449 and say the router was reset.
  3. Our team will tell you the next step.

Important

Also please don't open the router or the PoE adapter, move cables between ports, or touch the radio on your roof. These can make the problem worse or put you at risk.
